<p>A continuous donor strip (10) for use in a color thermal printer includes a plurality of units of patches (14c, 14m, 14y) of different heat transferable materials. The units (16) are disposed serially along the strip (10). The patches (14c, 14m, 14y) are disposed in the same sequence in all units. The strip (10) is formed of a plurality of equal length sections. Each section contains at least one unit of patches. Each section is formed by cutting the end portion off a continuous web (20) containing a plurality of longitudinally extensive, side-by-side different stripes (514y, 514m, 514c) containing the different materials intended for the different patches (14c, 14m, 14y). The continuous web (20) may be formed by any of the coating processes known in the photographic industry. The product and the method and apparatus for forming the product, are described.</p> |
