PURPOSE:To obtain a thermoelectric element which can be used as a high- sensitivity and high-response heat sensor by alternately piling up a plurality of P- and N-type semiconductor ceramic layers with insulating layers in between and electrically connecting the layers with each other at end faces of the layers. CONSTITUTION:P-type semiconductor ceramic layers 1a, N-type semiconductor ceramic layers 2a on which insulating glass layers 3a are formed by glass paste baking, P-type semiconductor ceramic layers 1b provided with similarly formed glass layers 3b, and N-type semiconductor ceramic layers 1b are alternately piled up. When a laminated thermoelectric element is formed by forming electrodes 5a-5c on the end faces of the layers by laser-trimming full-surface electrodes formed on the end faces after the layers are laminated, the need of forming glass layers between the laminated layers is eliminated and application of stress to the ceramic plates and occurrence of cracks can be prevented. In addition, since the laser trimming allows easy, excellent, and highly accurate formation of serial electric connections, the lamination and miniaturization of the element become easier. Thus a laminated thermoelectric element which can be used as a high-sensitivity and high-response heat sensor can be obtained. |
