<p>An apparatus for reducing materials comprising knives (3) which are mounted helically about two horizontal and parallel shafts (2). The knives (3) which have two U-shaped blades (8) cooperate with fixed knives (6) which are arranged in the area between the two shafts (2). When the materials to be reduced are introduced from the upperside of the apparatus (1) a reduction of the materials is performed by cooperating knives (3 and 6). The shafts (2) are arranged in such a way that they rotate backwards and forwards partly to ensure a reduction and partly to ensure a redistribution of the material fed to the apparatus. In the apparatus an even material feed is achieved minimizing the energy demand for operating the apparatus.</p> |
