A permanently electrostatically charged sheet is made from a polyorganosiloxane hardened in an electric field. Pref. (i) the layer depth is 0.01-100 micrometres; (ii) the polyorganosiloxane is a polydimethylsiloxane or a condensed silicone resin and is made by condensns. of a liq. organochlorosilane or liq. silicone resin in an electric field in the presence of a catalyst; (iii) the polyorganosiloxane layer may be applied to a sheet of carrier material, esp. a polyester fibre fabric in which the polyester fibres are encapsulated in the polysiloxane; (iv) the sheet may be bonded to a sheet of plastics foam; (v) the raw materials to be condensed are applied to an electrically conductive plate, esp. where a potential of 20-80 kV is applied to the plate.
