Radar system with transmit and reception aerials - one of which has circular diagram, rotating in azimuth, and reduced performance slot

The radar system is suitable for near and medium distance ranges. The reception or transmit aerial has a circular diagram, rotating in the azimuth. The diagram has a slot in which the reception or transmit performance is reduced as compared with the remaining azimuth region. The slot is swivelable in elevation, and the signal received by the reception aerial is modulated by the slot. Pref. the reception aerial contains in the aximuth plane a direction-dependent diagram. The transmit aerial, rotating in the azimuth, generates a circular transmit diagram with the slot rotating round the transmit aerial. USE/ADVANTAGE - Low probability of intercept radar, with low-cost facility for three-dimensional detection.
