PURPOSE:To obtain an automatic transmission furnished with performance equivalent to a conventional one at considerably low cost by constituting a device to be made of 3 clutches and 1 free wheel instead of the conventional clutch equipped with 4 clutches. CONSTITUTION:A gear G1 for low speeds is fixedly installed on an input shaft S1, and a clutch CH for high speed switching equipped with a gear G2 for high speeds is concurrently disposed on the output side which can be freely connected and/or disconnected. A free wheel F is disposed on a counter shaft S2 parallel with the input shaft S1 wherein the free wheel has a gear G3 to be meshed with the gear G1 on the input side while transmitting rotation from the input shaft S1 side to the counter shaft S2 side. Both a forward speed clutch CF having a gear G4 meshed with the gear G2 and a reverse speed clutch CR having the gear G4 on the output side which can be freely connected and/or disconnected, are disposed, and a device is so constituted both a gear G7 to be meshed with a gear G5 and a gear G8 to be meshed with the gear G4 via the gear G7 are fixedly installed respectively on an output shaft S3 parallel with both of the input shaft S1 and the counter shaft S2. |
