An appts. for non-destructive testing of cylindrical workpieces comprises pref. several measuring probes such as coils for surrounding the workpiece (in cylindrical channel) in an annular array. The measuring assembly forms one unit with sliding elements such as rollers which bear against the perimeter of the workpiece; this unit is mounted floating with respect to a fixed support secured to the workpiece. Pref. the fixed support comprises a hollow cylindrical ring and cheek plates, which are perpendicular to the axis of the workpiece. Flexible elements are supported by these cheek plates and interact with the unit so that the latter is floatingly mounted. Outside the cheek plates, flange discs provide direct or indirect mounting for the rollers and also have stub shafts for the elastic elements.
