The prepn. of an agent for use against viral infections, esp. against AIDS comprises mixing halo-contg. alkyl glycerol phosphocholine analogues of formula (I), (II) or (III) with pharmaceutically acceptable carriers and/or auxilliaries. R = 6-30C alkyl; Y = Cl, Fa or OCH2CF3. USE/ADVANTAGE - The agent can be used to treat viral infections, esp. AIDS, avoiding the problems (such as cytotoxic side effects, thrombocyte aggregation, reduction in blood pressure) etc. associated with previous anti-HIV therapeutics and anti-HIV phospholipids.
