PURPOSE:To designate a command to be inputted later or an operand by tracing reversely a chain based on the executing result and extracting a series of command strings that produced the executing result for generation of a program. CONSTITUTION:The relations among a command inputted by an operator, the data to which the command refers, and the executing result of the command are stored in a chain. Then the chain is reversely traced based on the executing result designated by the operator for extraction of a series of command strings that produced the executing result. Then the programs having the equivalent functions are produced based on those extracted command strings. Thus such commands, etc., that are inputted owing to the operating mistakes contained in the chain or the trial and error are never extracted. Then a proper program is obtained.
