A trisazo compound represented by the following formula in the free acid form: <CHEM> wherein Q1 and Q2 independently of one another are each unsubstituted or substituted phenyl or naphthyl group and l represents 0 or 1, which is useful for dyeing fiber, paper, leather and the like having hydroxy or amido group in black color, and for use in an ink used in ink jet printing and the like.
