The free wheel unit has a double cage incorporating a preferably metal and especially steel inner cage-ring (16), and an outer plastics cage ring (12). The two end surfaces (24) of the outer cage-ring (12) have extensions (20,22) protruding axially beyond the outer ring (18), with radially outward protruding cams (30) at their ends. The extensions (20) on one side are shorter radially than those (22) on the opposite side, and have a bevel (34) and/or the inner casing (26) of the outer ring (18) possessing a wider part (36) on one side.
