The braking regulator uses integration of the wheel retardation and the wheel slip over a given interval or over the time period for which the difference between the detected peripheral velocity of the wheel and a reference velocity is above a threshold value. The integrated values are combined after individual weighting and the result is compared with a limit value, pref. dependent on the retardation and/or velocity, to initiate pulsed reduction of the applied braking pressure. Pref. the evaluation circuit receiving the retardation, the wheel slip and the wheel acceleration signals (s, -a, +a) has 3 respective signal integrators (20, 21, 22). These are coupled to a combining logic (18, 23) and a pair of comparators (24, 29) providing the pressure reduction pulses for the braking control valves.
