PURPOSE:To manufacture a film, which is superior in mechanical properties, possesses a smooth surface and is no uneveness of thickness, from a high- molecular liquid crystal, by a method wherein the high-molecular liquid crystal in a state of melting or a liquid solution is fed through a sideward direction of a die, a lip adjusting space for thickness control is made small and a discharge rate is increased to a fixed rate or higher. CONSTITUTION:A molding die is constituted so that a high-molecular liquid crystal in a state of melting or liquid solution is fed through the side of a manifold type die. It is preferable that a land length of the die is about 0.5-3mm and a gap between lips is not esceeding 0.3mm, especially not exceeding 0.1mm. A control pitch of the lips of the die shall be not exceeding 30mm. When the pitch is at least 30mm, it becomes that bending amount of a lip material can not be corrected. An inflection point (a) where viscosity is lowered suddenly from a certain fixed shearing rate is existence in the high-molecular liquid crystal. Since the high-molecular liquid crystal is extruded at such a rate as to become a mean shearing rate of the point (a) or higher at the time of discharge through the die, surface roughness and an irregular thickness can be lessened especially. |
