PURPOSE: To perform the current limitation of an AC circuit by disposing a superconductor in the magnetic field region of a choke coil and triggering the conducting state of the superconductor by the choke coil. CONSTITUTION: The voltage U=Uo sin(ωt+α) of an AC voltage source 2 is connected to a load 14 through a current limiter 10 and a switch 11. The current limiter 10 comprises resistors 6, 7, a choke coil 8 and a superconductor 9. When a short circuit 13 occurs on a load side, magnetic induction inside the choke coil 8 rises, and in the superconductor 9, its critical current density is reduced. A current flowing through the superconductor 9 is splitted into the parallel resistor 6 and the choke coil 8. The resistance of the superconductor 9 greatly rises and a current i10 is lowered. Therefore, current limiting performance is improved, thereby being able to perform an accurate response. |
