PURPOSE:To reduce regged part caused on a hatched line part by detecting a characteristic pattern from a picture element near a noted picture element and setting the brightness of the magnified noted picture element in plural dots to a predetermined value based on the detection. CONSTITUTION:A picture to be magnified is extracted from an observation window such as 3X3 dots and picture elements A1-A8 in the vicinity of a noted picture element A9 are expanded and light binarized dots are set to logical 1 and dark dots are set to logical 0, then the characteristic is represented by a binary coded decimal number. Based on the numerical value representing the characteristic, the brightness of the magnified noted picture element of the plural dots is set to a predetermined value. Thus, the brightness of the plural dots near the hatched line part of the magnified picture is adjusted and a smooth picture with no eminent ruggedness is obtained. |
