A METHOD FOR SENSING AUTOMATICALLY EXPANSION SLOT OF PERSONAL COMPUTER

The 16 bit expansion slot connector is used as 8bit connector by using the method. The method comprises steps: (A) sensing the ground level of a second connector (CT) to discriminate that the inserted expansion slot is 8bit or 16bit expansion slot; (B) generating address according to the discriminated result; and (C) controlling the system according to the address. The ground level of the second connector becomes high when the 8bit slot is inserted and becomes low when the 16-bit slot is inserted. The ground pin (GND) of the connector (CT) is connected to a pull up resister (R1) and the upper most address bit of a ROM (20).
