PURPOSE:To prevent a monitor screen display of a monochromatic original from being colored and blurred in color by outputting a monochromatic video signal by a video signal generating means for the monochromatic original. CONSTITUTION:A switch 16 is connected to the side of a contact (b) when a read original is monochromatic or to the side of a contact (a) when a color original is read. An adder 28 adds the output of a brightness encoder 22 and a signal selected by the switch 26 and the sum signal is amplified by an amplifier 30 and applied to a video monitor device 32. The output of the adder 28 is the monochromatic video signal when the discriminated result of a monochromatic/color decision circuit 52 indicates the monochromatic mode and goes to a color video signal when the discriminated result is color mode. Consequently, even when the read original is monochromatic, its image is neither colored on a monitor screen nor blurred in color. |
