PURPOSE:To improve substantially the efficiency of excavating a facing by providing the whole face plate rotatably to a facing surface while providing rotatably a rotary cutter on the circumferential position of the front face of the face plate along the facing surface. CONSTITUTION:A face plate 20 is provided on the front face of a tube frame- like shield body 10 and a drive motor 24 is connected to the rear face of the face plate 20 through a drive shaft 22. Rotary cutters 30 are provided on two positions opposed to each other on the circumference of the front face of the disk-like face plate 20. The rotary cutter is tapered to converge slightly toward the outer peripheral side thereof. The face plate 20 is formed outside the rotary range of the rotary cutter 30 with this segmental earth and sand intakes 28 extending radially through the face plate. A rotary shaft 31 of the rotary cutter 30 is supported rotatably by a bearing 32 on the face plate 20. The drive motor 24 is rotatably driven to revolve the rotary cutter 30 in a circular course together with the face plate 20, cuts the facing of foundation, sends earth and sand into an excavating chamber 16 and then discharges them from a screw conveyer mechanism 50. |
