PURPOSE:To achieve maintenance and control by means of a simple operation by positioning a tension roller and a cleaning means via a positional relation maintaining member. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive belt 1, which has finished transfer on a transfer material, continues carrying and the removal of residual toner is carried out by a cleaning device 13 in which a blade 13a facing the tension roller 3 is in press-contact with a rotary toner-carrying-roller 13b. At the end of removing toner, the blade 13A is separated. A little after that, the toner carrying roller 13B is separated, and another image forming process is started. The photosensitive belt 1, a guide member 4, and the cleaning device 13, all of which serve as image forming means, are incorporated in a process cartridge composed of front and rear substrates, and are attached to detached from the device main body as a unit. Thus, a belt-like image carrier can be stretched and carried with the fixed degree of tension, and the cleaning means can be kept in the best setting-position. |
