PURPOSE:To prevent a tailing phenomenon and to record an image having a sufficient durability by a method wherein at the time of driving each heating element, a pulse train of a short period is applied following an early rising pulse of a long period for accomplishing a rapid rising and keeping a temperature. CONSTITUTION:Since the application of a rising pulse P1 is stopped just after the temperature of a heating element 23 reaches the melting point of an ink layer 31, the temperature begins lowering when becoming slightly higher than the melting point of the ink layer 31. The application of a pulse train P3 is started just before the temperature of the heating element 23 is lowered to the melting point of the ink layer 31. The temperature of the heating element 23 repeatedly rises and lowers at a short period to be kept at a level slightly higher than the melting point of the ink layer 31. Upon completion of the pulse train P3, the temperature of the heating element 23 begins lowering, and the heating element 23 is cooled. In this manner, the ink layer 31 is melted for a time T0 from the temperature increase to the melting point of the ink layer 31 to the decrease below the melting point. The ink layer 31 is transferred to recording paper 27 for a relative travel distance of a thermal head 21 to the recording paper 27 corresponding to the time T0.
|
