PURPOSE:To eliminate a waste of time and save energy at the time of defocusing by providing a control means which operates a lighting means according to the results of a decision means, a measuring means, and a storage means. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary light unit AUXL which lights a subject when focus detection is impossible turns on a transistor ATR through a resistance when the output terminal CAUXL of a microcomputer PRS goes up to 'H' to feed electricity to a light emitting diode ALED. The luminous flux emitted by the ALED lights the subject through the operation of a lens ALNS for auxiliary light. Further, when auxiliary light is emitted at the time of the failure in focus detection, the subject is lighted with a pattern. In this case, the microcomputer PRS receives image information on a subject image formed on respective sensor array couples and then performs specific focus detection arithmetic to know the quantity of defocusing of a photographic lens. Consequently, a waste of time originating from the auxiliary light projection is eliminated and the energy is saved. |
