PURPOSE:To decrease a calorific value generated from an LED by shortening the time when an LED module illuminates without exerting any influence upon after-image effect and reducing the power consumption in a constant period. CONSTITUTION:An MPU 11 compares the counted value of a frame buffer 16 with the bit value at the time of full illumination and performs arithmetic to initially set the time DELTAt1 from the extinction of the LED to the start of data writing and the time DELTAt2 from the writing of data to the extinction of the LED, and temperature data on heat generation on a display surface which is detected by a temperature sensor 19 is taken out to correct the time DELTAt1 and DELTAt2. They are displayed on the LED module 17 and an LED turn-on control signal determined by the counted value of illumination data on the screen in a frame buffer 16 and the temperature data obtained by the temperature sensor 19 is generated. Consequently, the illumination time of the LED can be shortened without exerting any influence upon the after-image effect to reduce the power consumption in the constant period and also reduce the calorific value.
