The invention relates to a support spring for a video tape cassette. The spring includes a pair of elastic parts (3, 3') which are slightly curved and arranged so as to push on tape reels installed inside the cassette; a middle part (4) joined to the said elastic parts (3, 3') at its opposite ends; fixing holes (5, 5') formed in the said middle part (4); and a pair of slots (6, 6') formed on the lateral edges of the said middle part (4); there is furthermore provision for impressions (7, 7') formed in the said elastic parts (3, 3'), and each of the opposite extreme corners of the said middle part projects, in a steplike manner, from the said elastic parts; thus it is possible to obtain an elastic force greater than the optimal level with a smaller width and the same thickness as in conventional springs. <IMAGE>
