An injection pump for supplying fuel to an internal combustion engine includes a plunger ll coupled to a cam follower l4 which can be moved in one direction to effect fuel delivery by a multi lobed cam l2. The plunger is returned following fuel delivery by a return mechanism including two levers l8, 20 one of which carries a roller l7 engaging the cam and the other of which engages the plunger. An adjustment shoe 25 is carried by the one lever and is engaged by the other lever to enable adjustment of the backlash in the mechanism to be adjusted.
