The machine has a shallow load surface (1) with a bottom (1a) to move the material to input rollers (3,4) which drag it towards the flail roller (5) which chops the material and passes it out via an adjustable duct (18). The material is further drawn into the chopper by oscillating fingers (7,8) joined to aid the input. The coarse material is loaded into the machine by a servo-operated grab (16,15). The input roller spacing is adjustable on a swing support to take different sizes of material. The machine is fitted with wheels.
