The anti-block control system has the vehicle deceleration determined permanently from the average increase in the reference speed. The so-determined deceleration is used during the phase of instability when detecting an increase in the reference speed. The increase in the reference speed in the phase of instability is chosen to be a given amount (or percentage) greater than the deceleration. Deceleration is determiend from the change in the reference speed over different times.
