The DC motor (22) is supplied from a battery (9) of cells (10-12) in series via the two-pole switch (23). One pole (24) is connected through a diode (18) to an intermediate tap (17) on the battery, and the other pole (25) directly to the negative terminal (15). The diode (18) prevents any short-circuit between the tap (17) and terminal (15) when the high-speed switch (25) is closed.
