The circuit reads 2-phase servo position signal recorded on the groove of the disk without errors and generates the drive signal of the read/write head proportional to the magnitude of the 2-phase servo position signal to position the head on the target track. The circuit includes a preamphifier (2) for amplifying the signal read by a head, a mucks (20) for generating sampling signal using the timing signal generated by a timer, a sample and hold circuit for sampling the preamplified signal using the sampling signal and for holding the sampled signal, a comparator for comparing the first and the second signal generated by the sample and holder, a microcomputer for discriminating that the head is off the track by inputting the output signals of the comparator and the mucks, and a D/A converter (15) for converting the output head drive signal of the micro computer to drive a head motor.
