Axial play adjustment in electric motor - using plastics sleeve cut or deformed to length for operation which is both reliable and simple

Axial play adjustment between the rotor and the stator-mounted bearings of an electric motor is effected by a plastics spacer sleeve which is pushed onto the rotor shaft and which can be shortened to the operative spacer length. The novelty is that the spacer sleeve is shortened by cutting off the excess spacer length or by plastic deformation of the sleeve. Also claimed is a similar process using an insulating end disc arranged at least at one front end of a rotor plate stack, the novelty being that the spacer sleeve is integrated with the insulating end disc, esp. as a one-piece plastics part. ADVANTAGE - Operationally reliable axial play adjustment is achieved in a simple manner.
