PURPOSE:To eliminate the scattering loss of light generated heretofore in a polarization inversion part and to obtain high wavelength conversion efficiency by forming an optical waveguide on the surface of a optical nonlinear crystal substrate having polarization domain inversion parts so as not to infilter the polarization domain inversion parts. CONSTITUTION:The optical waveguide 2 having the rate of curvature higher than the rate of curvature of the substrate is formed on the surface of the optical nonlinear crystal substrate 1 having the polarization domain inversion parts 3 on the surface so as not to infilter the polarization domain inversion parts 3. Namely, the optical waveguide 2 is so formed that the polarization domain inversion parts 3 and the waveguide are separated. The incident basic waves, therefore, progress without being scattered at the boundary with the polarization domain inversion parts 3. The high-efficiency wavelength conversion is executed in this way. |
