A rotary latch (12) incorporating a recess (13) for a locking bolt (14) is actuated by a catch (16) with a release lever (20) coupled to it by a two-position locking lever (30). The release lever (20) rotates about a fixed axis to operate an intermediate lever (23) engaging the catch (16). In one position of the locking lever (30) the intermediate lever (23) is fixed w.r.t. the release lever (20); in the other position the intermediate lever (23) can be pivoted freely w.r.t. it. ADVANTAGE - Less force is required to adjust locking lever which requires no bolt through release lever.
