Open=end spinning unit - has opening roller working against trough plate with thermochemical protection

Open-end spinning unit has an opening roller working against a trough plate, to produce sepd. fibres. To prevent adhesion to the plate, of impurities from the raw material, the plate is given a surface coating by thermo-chemical means. The trough plate which hinges at the bore is pref. coated on the top surface. The base material is steel, and the coating may be a layer of ceramic, which is subjected to heat treatment in order to fill the pores. Alternatively, the plate may be dipped into a bath of nickel to give it a coating, which' is also smoothed over by further heat treatment.
