To produce a yarn of a twist character, the slubbing is twisted by a spindle and a cap with a generally free rotation. The combined fibre slubbing formed into a yarn is drawn over the cap. The appts. is pref. a combination of a drawing unit to give a parallel drawing action to two slubbings followed by a twisting and winding and a cap where the yarn is drawn over its surface as it rotates freely. A cutter, in front of the spindle assembly and the cap, is near the junction point of the two drawn slubbings, with swing guides, to cut one section if there is a break in the other.
