Fibre reinforced plastics hollow shaft - has tubular connections made of straddling dowels and coiled fibre layers

The fibre-reinforced plastics hollow shaft has a part (1) formed of coiled fibre-layers, and pre-fabricated connections permanently fixed to the ends of the shaft-part (1). The connections each consists of pipes (2) containing a straddling-dowel (5) and attached at even distances round the ends of the shaft-part by coiled fibre layers (3). The pipes are embedded in a fibre-reinforced plastics support (4). USE/ADVANTAGE - The hollow shaft is easily produced and has connections transmitting tensional and compressive forces.
