PURPOSE:To ease the discomfort of a driver due to the change of engine performance so as to maintain silence by changing speed change patterns depending on whether the alcohol density is higher or lower than the set value. CONSTITUTION:A speed change pattern judging means judges speed change patterns on the basis of the alcohol density of fuel supplied from a fuel tank 61 into the injector 63 of an engine 80 through a fuel pump 62. The alcohol density of the fuel passing inside a pressure regulator 62a for regulating fuel pressure is detected by an alcohol density detecting means 64, and when the detected alcohol density is lower than the set value, a speed pattern I is selected to perform the same speed change control as in a 10% gasoline automobile. When the alcohol density is higher than the set value, a speed change pattern II is selected to perform upshift at the low vehicle speed in comparison with the speed change pattern I and thereby the engine speed at the travel time is suppressed low. |
