The stress control for an end termination of a high voltage cable insulated with crosslinked polyethylene has two elastomer cylinders with embedded conducting stress control features; these are fitted one over the other to provide uniform void-free control. The cable adapter which is fitted directly on to the insulation of the cable has a shoulder all round; the actual control member fitted on from the side of the cable has a part with reduced dia. bore near the embedded stress-control horn. Porcelain outer insulator with sheds (2) surrounds the termination, where the cable conductor (3) is free of outer conducting cover (4). The stress control consists of the adapter (6) fitted directly on to the insulation (5) and the control feature on top of it. ADVANTAGE - The two cylinders are positioned precisely relative to each other. They produce a permanent, immoveable and uniform void-free stress control.
