PRODUCTION OF POLYARYLENE SULFIDE COATED BODY

PURPOSE:To obtain a coating film having satisfactory adhesion and toughness by heat treatment at a relatively low temp. for a short time by using a copolymer formed by copolymerizing a specified amt. of alkyl substd. p-phenylene sulfide units. CONSTITUTION:Powder of a copolymer represented by structural formula I (where each of R<1>-R<4> is H or 1-4C alkyl but all of R<1>-R<4> are not H and m/n is 99/1-70/30 molar ratio) is melt-stuck to the surface of a metallic base body heated to >=300 deg.C and heat treatment is carried out at the m.p. of polyarylene sulfide or above to produce a polyarylene sulfide coated body. This coated body having superior adhesion and toughness can be efficiently produced.
