PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of a product and the load on the designing work by executing a wide television(TV) signal processing capable of receiving any kind of TV signal by the same image receiver even if an inputted TV signal is a high quality TV signal, an EDTV signal, or a current standard TV signal. CONSTITUTION:The wide TV signal processing circuit is provided with an HD processor 17, a wide screen identification(ID) signal detecting circuit 18, a mode controller 19, an ID processor 21, an ED processor 22, aspect ratio conversion circuits 26 to 28, and so on. Even if a TV signal inputted from a TV signal input terminal 10 is a signal having the same aspect ratio as that of the current standard TV system or a signal having a wide aspect ratio, the aspect ratio can correctly be recognized. Consequently, display based upon a normal vertical/horizontal ratio can be attained in accordance with the ID of a display connected to a display terminal. |
