PURPOSE:To surely retrieve only the alteration part of a sequence program by collating the sequence program based on output coils stored in a programmable controller and a memory device. CONSTITUTION:The programmable controller is constituted by connecting CPU 1 to RAM 2, ROM 3, CRT 4 and an input/output device 5. Data tables A and B on the presence or absence of the use of the output coils for respective output coils are generated based on the sequence programs stored in the programmable controller and the memory device. The sequence program stored in the programmable controller and that stored in the memory device are collated by comparing the presence or absence of the use for respective output coils based on the data tables A and B. Thus, only the alteration part of the sequence program can surely be retrieved.
