PURPOSE:To smoothly replace the ink with the air and fill the inside of a head with the ink thereby to prevent the air bubbles from being left by forming a strong part and a weak part of the capillary attraction in a cross section of an ink passage. CONSTITUTION:An ink passage 9 consists of a narrow part 9-a and a wide part 9-b, namely, a strong part where the capillary attraction works strongly and a weak part where the capillary attraction is weak. When the ink in an ink reservoir 10 enters a gap 5, the ink is first drawn to the strong part of the capillary attraction, i.e., narrow part 9-a of the ink passage 9 into the gap 5, and the air in the gap 5 comes out from the wide part 9-b. Accordingly, the air in the gap 5 is completely replaced with the ink, and the gap 5 is filled with the ink. Moreover, the air bubbles are never left in the gap 5 between a nozzle plate 3 and a substrate 2, without hindering the ink from being discharged from a nozzle 8. |
