摘要 |
PURPOSE:To prepare a mono secondary alkyl aromatic compound in high conversion and high selectivity by transalkylating an aromatic compound with a polyalkylbenzene having four or more substituents including one or more bulky secondary alkyl groups as an alkylating agent. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic compound (e.g. 2-methylnaphthalene) is transalkylated with a compound of the formula (R<1> is 3-5C secondary alkyl; R<2> is 1-5C primary alkyl; n+m>=4) (e.g. isopropylpentamethylbenzene) as an alkylating agent to provide a mono secondary alkyl aromatic compound (e.g. moniosopropyl-2-methylnaphthalene). The mole ratio of the aromatic compound/ alkylating agent is preferably 0.1-3 and the reaction is performed in the presence of a catalyst (protonic acid or Lewis acid) at -40 to 150 deg.C for 10min to 8 hours. |
