PURPOSE:To eliminate the fading of a color forming part and background fog caused by chemicals by using at least one kind of a specific salicylic acid derivative or a multivalent metal salt thereof as a coupler. CONSTITUTION:The reaction of a colorless - light-colored basic dye with a coupler developing a color upon the contact with the basic dye is utilized and at least one kind of a salicylic acid derivative represented by formula I (wherein Ar is a phenyl group which may have a substituent, R is an alkylene group which may have an ether bond, an ester bond or an amide bond, X is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, l is 1 or 2 and m is an integer of 1 - 3) or a multivalent metal salt thereof is used as the coupler. By this method, the fading of a color forming part and background fog caused by chemicals are eliminated. |
