The apparatus for sealing pipelines and particularly sealing the joint of a tapping (2) into a collecting branch (1) comprises an inflatable piece of apparatus (4) inserted into the said branch and a stopping-off balloon (bladder) (5) inserted into the tapping. The stopping-off balloon (5) includes, bonded on to its end face (10), a plug (11) made of foam intended to be compressed by the central sleeve of the inflatable device in order to avoid formation of a film of resin in the tapping. The invention is more particularly intended for operations of sealing pipelines by the injection of pressurised resin. <IMAGE>
