PURPOSE:To simplify the construction of an AC starter by a method wherein an output voltage of an AC generator which supplies power to the motor is raised according to the load characteristics of an internal-combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:When starting an AC motor 4, load on the internal-combustion engine 1 is reduced by so adjusting an exciting power source device 8 as to lower the output voltage of the AC generator 2 to the minimum voltage at which the loads connected to the generator 2 except the AC motor 4 can be operated satisfactorily. Then, the output voltage of the generator 2 is rapidly raised from the minimum voltage to a rated voltage in accordance with the load characteristics of the engine 1. Accordingly, the AC motor can be started speadily with a simple device. |
