A horizontal arc welding method having a low percentage of dilution is characterized by arraying the welding rod on the groove of the basic material in the horizontal direction, a generating the arc between of the welding rod-end and the basic material by sending an electric current to the rod, and continuously welding. The welding rod is adhered with the coating material to the periphery of the cylindrical rod core, and comprises the cancave in the one side end of the rod and the projection in the another side end of the rod.
