<p>A process for the electrodeposition of lithium which comprises plating onto a primary cathode in a bath of lithium ions in solution with an organic solvent, and using a supplementary cathode to neutralise by-products detrimental to the process. The supplementary cathode is aluminium and may be used in the same bath or a connected bath. Lithium chloride and lithium hexafluoroarsenate provide the lithium ions. Additionally, a bath may comprise a solution of lithium ions in dimethyl sulphoxide as the organic solvent.</p> |
