Moulding flat candle by transverse pressure round wick - stiffened before insertion through temporary bore

Open ended hollow candle mould with upper and lower punches vertically mobile towards each other from opposite ends is filled with paraffin powder or granules, which undergoes initial compaction. A tubular mandrel with an axial bore is inserted into a mould sidewall aperture and moved towards a corresp. aperture in the opposite face. Into the bore is pushed the end of a stiffened wick traversing the entire transverse central bore. With the mandrel withdrawn, candle compression is completed by approaching the punches, with the amts. of paraffin above and below the wick equal. USE - For making flat candles of profiled shape, e.g. letters, crosses or Christmas tress, using transverse compaction.
