PURPOSE: To provide the emphasized text printing of high quality by comparing the picture element of an image to be emphasized and the peripheral picture elements with a stored picture element pattern and emphasizing the respective picture elements based on the compared results. CONSTITUTION: By storing the picture element pattern to be generated or common in text images and not to be generated or rarely generated in half tone images, the raster and picture element images of a text are emphasized by raising a resolution without causing any degradation in the related half tone images. Then, the part of raster images around the related picture elements is compared with the stored picture element pattern. When the compared part equal to the stored picture element pattern, the related picture element is replaced with the picture element pattern of a high resolution related to the equal storage pattern. When they are unequal, the related picture element is replaced with the picture element of the high resolution of the same type as the related picture element. Thus, the text is emphasized to the high resolution. |
