<p>A handle for a sleeve-type carrier. The handle comprises an opening (32) extending transversely of the length of the carrier (10), the opening (32) being defined by elongated edges and short end edges (54) located in the top panel (14). Flaps (34) covering the handle opening (32) are connected to the elongated edges along fold lines (48). An enclosed area (36) extending from each end (54) of the opening (32) into the nearest side panel (12) is defined by a periphery comprised of an interrupted slit (56, 58), enabling varying concentrations of stresses resulting from lifting the carrier (10) from either edge of the handle opening (32) to be transferred from the ends of the handle opening to the sides (12) of the carrier through the interrupted slits (56, 58).</p> |
