PURPOSE:To obviate the formation of double images owing to the formation of ghost images at the time of displaying by providing light diffusion ability to a lower electrode substrate surface and forming the reflection surface of a reflection plate into a specular surface. CONSTITUTION:A surface 11 of a substrate 7 on the side opposite from a liquid crystal layer 4 is treated to a matt surface formed with microruggedness, and has light diffusion ability. The reflection surface 12 of a reflection plate 9 is a specular surface. It is equally well to give light diffusion ability to the surface 13 of the substrate 7 on the liquid crystal layer 4 side. Thereby, the formation of double images owing to formation of ghost images at the time of display is obviated and only the real images are observed.
